How to read the atlas

  1. MW is capacity. GWh is energy produced over a year.
  2. Storage uses both MW and MWh. Heat and grid infrastructure use different measures.
  3. Programmes, work packages and plant phases overlap. Their counts and budgets are not additive.
  4. Operating is a reported lifecycle stage, not a claim of live output.

A green dot is a station that already stands. A blue ring is development that does not. Positions are candidate site locations and exact sites are still being verified. A group shows how many records sit together, not their combined capacity. A station never groups with development, so a group keeps one colour. Stages inside a group can differ. Province shading counts the records filed there, including those with no point on the map. Reported project stages. Planned capacity is not electricity being produced. Photographs show the named stations. A new project that is not built yet shows its site, the plant it expands or the builder’s drawing, and the caption says which. Each picture carries its author and licence.
